Job Overview:

Our Client is looking to recruit a CNC Programmer & Operator who can set up and operate, up to date CNC, Turning & Milling machines. The role has been designed to support the companies expansion into machining capabilities and will initially focus on CNC cutting & drilling of brass extrusions.

The ambition of the company is to bring a 4 axis CNC online in the first quarter of 2025 and the successful candidate will be a key player in making this happen. They will have a vast knowledge of CNC machines and their applications and will be able to assist with the identification, set up and purchase of appropriate machinery for manufacturing a range of components, ranging from simple turned parts, to intricate decorative parts from on a 5 axis machine. The vast majority of our products are made from brass, however there will be the need for other materials such as stainless steel and aluminium.  They will operate a high number of SKU’s with low volume, so the candidate will need to be confident in multiple sets per day, often for bespoke or one of parts.

Responsibilities:

  • Program various CNC machines
  • Set, load and operate various CNC Machines
  • work to high standards of precision to create quality products
  • Set up tooling, fixtures and execute programs.
  • Support design and production engineering on the deployment of methodologies
  • Offer operational improvements and efficiencies where needed
  • Building & managing the small team within the machine shop
  • Consider tools required to cut materials and program machines accordingly and raising requestions for bespoke tooling when required.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems with machines as they arise.
  • Working on small batches across a wide range of varying designs

Education/Work Experience Requirements:

  • Experienced in working with Brass
  • CNC Experience setting and operating
  • CNC turning programming experience – essential
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Ability to self inspect
  • Experienced in working to tight tolerances
  • Strong communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Team player
  • MS Outlook or similar Good Knowledge
  • CRM systems Good Knowledge would be useful
